    About the Product

Driscoil Equipment supplies Short Catch Overshots for specialized downhole fishing operations where the exposed end of the fish is too short for engagement by a conventional overshot. The tool provides external engagement and positive gripping of tubular fish such as drill pipe, tubing, sucker rods and subs. Technical Specification Parameter Typical Specification Equipment Type Short Catch Overshot Fishing Method External catch Primary Application Retrieval of short-exposed tubular fish Typical Fish Drill pipe, tubing, sucker rod, subs & crossovers Main Components Top Sub, Bowl, Basket Grapple & Grapple Control Grapple Type Basket Grapple Body Material High-strength alloy steel Grapple Material Hardened/high-strength tool steel Connection API / NC-series or customer-specified Operation Mechanical Rotation Right-hand rotation for engagement/release Release Bump-down and right-hand rotation Catch Range Model and grapple dependent Circulation Configuration dependent Hardfacing Available Customization Fishing diameter and connection options Inspection Visual, dimensional and NDT inspection available A Short Catch Overshot is specifically designed so the basket grapple can occupy a lower position in the bowl, allowing it to engage a fish with very little exposed length. Typical Models Common commercially available configurations include: Model Bowl OD Maximum Catch Connection DYLT95 95 mm (3¾") 66.7 mm (2⅝") NC26 DYLT105 104.8 mm (4⅛") 77.8 mm (3⅟₁₆") NC31 DYLT114 114 mm (4½") 85.7 mm (3⅜") NC31 DYLT135 135 mm (5⅜") 95.2 mm (3¾") NC31 DYLT146 146 mm (5¾") 107.9 mm (4¼") NC38 DYLT206 206 mm (8⅛") 165.1 mm (6½") NC50 These are representative industry configurations; the correct model must be selected according to the actual fish OD, hole/casing size and fishing-string connection. Main Features Designed for very short fish exposure External gripping mechanism Replaceable basket grapple High-strength alloy-steel construction Positive fish engagement Suitable for tubular recovery Compact fishing assembly Can be configured for different fish diameters API/NC connection options Releasing capability available Suitable for drilling and workover operations Operating Principle The overshot is made up on the fishing string and lowered over the fish. The tool is rotated to the right while being gradually lowered, allowing the fish to enter the expandable basket grapple. Once the grapple has engaged the fish, right-hand torque is released and upward pull is applied to secure the catch.
